Nelly Sugu Joins Dittofi As Head Of Education

7th November 2024

Dittofi hires Nelly Sugu to head up Dittofi’s no-code education efforts.

Originally from Rwanda & now living in the United States, Nelly has a background as a professional software engineer. He has also worked as a coding instructor where he has developed training programs for Amazon, HackerU & Trilogy. As an instructor he has helped over 500 adult learners to upskill themselves & to become full stack software engineers at prestigious North American universities such as Georgia Tech University, University of California, Northwestern University & many more.

At Dittofi, Nelly will be responsible for scaling up Dittofi’s startup, agency & enterprise education efforts, building an online training academy that will teach the fundamentals of software development & how these fundamentals can be applied to Dittofi’s no-code platform & building partnerships with educational institutions to spread the use of no-code in software development.

James Virgo, co-founder & CEO of Dittofi says, “When I first met Nelly in early 2020, he was a volunteer judge at a no-code hackathon in Rwanda. The hackathon was being run by the No-Code Campus & was sponsored by Dittofi. For Dittofi it was a great way to test out our no-code platform with an early cohort of users.

After the Hackathon ended, Nelly & I remained in contact. We spoke mostly about the impact that no-code could have in upskilling non-technical professionals & individuals with both the skills to build software, but also in developing a common language that could facilitate communication between technical & non-technical users.”

The reality of no-code today is that no-code is still used mostly by people with some coding background. Non-technical people can build software using no-code, but often this is limited to either simple websites or generic apps that don’t scale past prototype builds. To scale or build complex products on no-code, non-technical users are hiring no-code experts that augment their initial prototypes with code. This can create a confused mixture of code within a no-code interface that is difficult to manage & maintain.

James Virgo says, “at Dittofi, we see the potential for no-code to fulfill its original mission to enable everyone to develop professional software applications. But… we don’t think that visual programming should lock-in coders & force them to learn esoteric, tool-specific languages. In the future, we see that no-code will facilitate the collaboration of non-technical & technical people. The non-technical people will be empowered to work with well designed, visual no-code tools to build software & technical people with their traditional code – truly together for the first time – to achieve uncapped potential. This is what the Dittofi no-code solution is all about – the fusion of code & no-code for limitless possibilities.

A critical component to realize this vision is to have a strong educational system where non-technical people can be taught to (A) build software using a well designed no-code interface & (B) to think & speak the language of software engineers. Myself & my other co-founders are really excited to engage with Nelly Sugu to help Dittofi achieve this. Nelly is someone with a tremendous experience in designing & scaling coding academies. He brings with him a strong network of professional educators & most importantly, he shares our work ethic, inspiration & vision of the future.”

Nelly Sugu says, “I am really excited to join Dittofi at such an early stage in their journey. It is not often that you get to be so close to the start of something with global potential. Dittofi is a rocket on a launch pad, fueling up with early adopters, game changing tech & educational materials. The founding consortium is a group of super smart professionals that are challenging convention & are on a mission to achieve a massively audacious goal.”
